The PasswordsPro program is updated to the 2.5.3.0 version.
In the new version:
- When the application is minimized to the taskbar during an attack, the balloon tip by its icon, besides showing the number of passwords found, now also shows the type of the attack.
- In dictionary attacks removed the exclusive use of dictionary files, which allowed using same dictionaries for either different copies of PasswordsPro or PasswordsPro along with other applications.
- Added option to not clear the statistics pane immediately after the attack (before clicking on the "OK" button).
- Added new hashing modules: sha1(md5($pass)).dll, MaNGOS.dll and sha1($pass.$salt).dll.
- Slightly upgraded "Password Generator". Click here for more.

Any news on if any of the products included in the Intel© Parallel Studio can benefit future versions of PasswordsPro? Such as adding much-needed multithreading?
Any word on if this suite can help at all on some level? |

| Agree, multithreading would benefit PPro, specially the hybrid and combo dictionary attack. But, as far as I know, it's very hard to rewrite single threaded programs to multithreaded. So, I guess, It wont be introduced any time soon. |

Yes, adding the multithreading is on my agenda; however, that requires a few months of hard work, and meanwhile I cannot make it to allocate that much of time.
Most likely, I will get on improving PasswordsPro once I am done with adding multiGPU to EGB. |

| Yes im also for Multithreading because i have a Quad Core and it sucks pretty much if it only uses 1 of these Cores. Also it wouldent be bad to mix up CPU + GPU that would also be a good thing to build in like in BarsWF only for more hashes. |

| I like option program/1 core , on that way I can run two instances of the program and work with 2 different lists of hashes. |

The best solution would be to have a self-contained section under "options" for configuring CPU & Core usage. Users could select how many cores to utilize through a vertical (or) horizontal slider. Next the user could have the ability to "cap" CPU-Usage with another slider.
So one particular config for stubborn hashes like phpbb3 would be to have both sliders all the way to "MAX", which would mean "use ALL available cores and allow 100% CPU utilization".
Another for MySQL hashes (which are MUCH faster to crack by nature anyway) could be to have the "Core slider" set to 3, and the "CPU-Usage" slider set to 60%, which would mean to allow 60% CPU utilization on a maximum of 3 cores. etc.. etc..
This way, users could still do funky projects and use more then one instance of PPro. On an i7 with 4 physical cores (8 logical w/hyperthreading) you could run 4 instances of PPro, and designate 2 logical cores using 80% CPU for each one.
Possibilities are numerous. |

Numerous, indeed!
Most benefiting from multithreading will be hybrid and combo dictionary attacks. They may take long to complete, but they are most helpful in recovery of complex passwords, and they crack hashes which no bruteforcers can. It's a shame it's hard to parallelize the code. |

I am sorry that I have not yet added the multithreading to PPro, but that is on my agenda.
Now (simultaneously with the development of EGB) I am working on the next version of PPro, where I will take into account all the remaining wishes + some of my own ideas. Then I will get on the complete redevelopment of the core for the purposes of the multithreading, as other than that almost all that I wanted has been realized... |
